  • Wipro acquires Enabler : Wipro Technologies, the Indian IT giant has acquired Enabler, a European retailer for Euro 41 million in an all cash deal. This move by Wipro is seen as a step to strengthen its stand in the Oracle retail market in Europe, Brazil and Middle East where Enabler serves its customers.
  • Accenture Expands with its 9th Facility in India : Accenture has opened its 5th facility in Pune which also is the 9th in India. This new facility will be developing solutions based on enterprise technologies, such as SAP and Siebel; Net-centric technologies, like Java and Microsoft; business intelligence and testing. The total employee strength of the company in India has grown to 17500 from a mere 4000 in 2003.

  • Infosys eyes expansion in China : Infosys has outlined its plans to increase its headcount in China from the current 500 to 5000 by 2011. The chief reason for expansion is that it becomes easier to work with the Japanese and Korean clients due to cultural similarities.
  • HCL Infosystems to bring IPods to Indian market : HCL Infosystems Ltd. has formed an alliance with U.S.-based Apple Computer Inc. to sell Apple's iPod music players in India.
