12 Facts to know about UID Project in India for Citizens
- The Indian UID (Unique Identification for Citizens) project is named Aadhaar
- It involves giving each Indian a 16 digit unique ID
- The Government authority involved is Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
- Aadhar project, apart from scanning fingerprints will also scan your iris, as part of biometric data collection

- First phase of UID will be launched in Feb of 2011
